WONDAGURL SIGNS A DEAL

If you’re a music fan like we are, then I’m sure by now you’ve heard the news about Wondagurl. But we at Gender Amplified STAN a #womanproducer so we’re gonna say it again: congratulations Wondagurl!

Last month, on July 20, Sony/ATV Music Publishing, in partnership with Travis Scott’s Cactus Jack Publishing, announced that they signed multi-platinum, Grammy nominated producer WondaGurl to a worldwide co-publishing deal. Senior Director of Creative, Jenn Drake, tweeted the news from the official Sony/ATV twitter account:

Wondagurl herself made no announcement of the deal and instead humbly retweeted Sony’s statement. This honor was definitely well-earned as the Canadian native has produced many hits including “Antidote” by Travis Scott, Company” by Drake ft. Travis Scott, “Aim for the Moon” by Pop Smoke ft. Quavo, and “B**ch Better Have My Money” by Rihanna.

According to Variety’s report, WondaGurl is also one of the youngest women to add production to a platinum-selling hip hop album due to her work on Jay-Z’s 2013 album, Magna Carta Holy Grail, at 16 years of age.

In addition to her production work, she has made the transition to a label and publishing executive by entering into a publishing joint-venture with Sony/ATV and her company Wonderchild, which focuses on developing the next generation of producers and giving them the chance to work with artists alongside her.

Of course, fans on Twitter were also very excited for the young mogul in the making. One fan tweeted:

This is the kind of work we love to see. After all, #TheFutureIsFemale !
