THE WOMEN PRODUCERS OF PANORAMA MUSIC FESTIVAL: PART III
Our last installment of the Women Producers of Panorama Music Festival is here! Over the past week, we have looked at the women producers who will be igniting New York City with their beats at Panorama.
Head to Randall’s Island July 27-29th, and you will find a diverse array of women producers and DJs who will be performing throughout the weekend. The talent is unparalleled; it is clear that the women will be taking over the weekend.
Today, we look at the remaining four women producers of the weekend: Nora En Pure, Riobamba, Shanti Celeste, and Yaeji.
Nora En Pure

This South African-Swiss DJ and deep house producer brings a sweet, sun-kissed vibe to the world of electronic dance music. Propelled to fame by her 2013 track “Come With Me,” Nora En Pure has maintained critical acclaim by crafting melodic, serene, indie-inspired beats that continue to shock her listeners. By implementing lots of piano, flute, and other sounds from nature in her productions, Nora En Pure exudes a sense of glowing earthiness that will not only make you want to dance, but will propel you to the beaches in the tropics. The energy in her productions is distinct and unequivocal; we know a Nora En Pure song instinctively before we even know she is the mastermind behind the production.
Riobamba

Ecuadorian-Lithuanian producer, DJ, and activist Riobamba always comes through with one rowdy, unforgettable live set. She redefines what Latinx club music can and will be. Each of her live sets is not just musical creation; rather, it is a culmination of extensive research, a history of resistance and empowerment, and a passion for infusing activism into music. According to her website, Riobamba is the founder of “APOCALIPSIS, a record label and creative agency growing visibility for narratives by those ni de aquí/ni de allá,” (neither from here nor there). Through her music, Riobamba demands visibility for those neither from here nor there, and the space that she creates through her productions is welcoming, free, and accepting.
Shanti Celeste

Beginning her DJ career at 17, Shanti Celeste is an expert at feel-good house music production. When Shanti was based in Bristol, she set up her own event held as clubs called “Housework” hoping to attract DJs from all around to come perform in front of an enlivened crowd. Since, she has started her own label Peach Discs! Her music is perfect for any party; even though she hops from one style to another, the dynamic drums and deep bass promise to get a crowd moving.
Yaeji

You have probably heard of her; if you have, you definitely love her. If you haven’t, where have you been?! Kreaji Yeaji embodies the shy, raver-next-door personality, both in her mannerisms and her sonic creations. Yaeji is a 25-year old, Korean-American, bilingual producer, DJ, vocalist, rapper, visual artist, and fashion designer who has undeniably captured the hearts of anyone who has listened to her music. In her soothing, animated, dynamic tracks, Yaeji effortlessly switches from singing — or should I say softly whispering — in English to Korean. The beauty of Yaeji is that you are never quite sure what to expect from this powerhouse. She has an innate ability to master a diverse range of genres, and every sonic creation of hers reminds us that she is here to stay.
