Music Industry Scholarships for Post Secondary Pursuits

Hello all young and aspiring musicians, producers, songwriters and those interested in the technological side of the music industry! We have found a handful of scholarships to help you reach your goals whether or not you’re choosing to continue on to a post secondary institution. We hope that compiling this information can be a jumping off point for your research as you embark on your careers in the music industry. Without any further ado, here is the list:

1. BMI Foundation - This foundation was founded by employees of BMI but has its own board of trustees. This foundation goes hard. Highlighted here are scholarships that can be applied to by application, they also offer some scholarships that are by invitation only and are not listed here: 
   1. The John Lennon Award
   2. Dolly Parton Songwriters Award
   3. BMI Composer Awards
   4. BMI Future Jazz Master Award
2. ASCAP Foundation - “We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, supported by contributions from ASCAP members and music fans throughout the United States. We operate and support vital programs that impact millions of music creators and music lovers of all ages every year.” Honestly, there are so many great scholarships offered through this fund, it was hard to decide which to share here, but below are a handful and we recommend checking out this foundation to see if there are more that might suit your needs better: 
   1. AAPI Scholarship 
   2. The ASCAP Foundation BMG Scholarship in Honor of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis
   3. The ASCAP Foundation Pride in Music Scholarship
   4. The ASCAP Foundation Louis Armstrong Award Honoring W.C. Handy
3. Music Forward Foundation in partnership with Live Nation, Inherit the Music, and Governors Ball. These scholarships offer more for the technical side of the industry as opposed to just songwriters/composers. Here are some of the notable scholarships from this organization.
