KITO: FROM AUSTRALIA TO THE UK AND EVERYWHERE INBETWEEN

Kito, whose given name is Maaike Kito Lebbing, is a producer, songwriter, and DJ from Denmark, Australia. Kito explains in an interview with Red Bull that she began producing as a teenager on FruityLoops and found herself enamored with the craft, but she didn’t get her start in the industry until after she sent demos to Diplo over MySpace who later signed her to his label: Mad Decent. Soon after getting her start in production Kito moved to London where she has since curated an extensive and impressive discography working on projects for Beyonce, Trinidad James, Jorja Smith, and many more.

In addition to her solo work, Kito is part of a producer and singer duo with her longtime friend Reija Lee. Reija Lee and Kito, who have been friends since they were thirteen years old, released their debut EP in 2012. Their song “Sweet Talk” reached the first spot on iTunes electronic music chart and was even sampled by Trinidad James.

Kito has recently returned to solo work and made her return with her single “Strawberries” which she released in late August of 2018. Kito describes “Strawberries”, which features Trinidad James, Elley Duhé, and Kodie Shane, as being “about getting lost in a cloud with someone you care about, and enjoying that moment in time with no worry for the past or future”. Following her August release, Kito released her 6 track EP HAANI in October of 2018.
